WIMBLEDON COMMON WINDMILL, LATE SUMMER

A view of this much-loved local landmark across sun baked fields.

Although it was hot the weather was very changeable so I only managed one outdoor session. As I worked the piece up from drawings in the studio I decided to push the mosaic quality suggested by the strong interlocking patterns in the sky and foreground shadows.

Presented in a hand finished frame in Farrow and Ball colours with gilt detail.
