A revisit of a scene I first painted back in 1987, and one of the first pictures I sold after leaving college. The buyer was the Royal Borough of Kingston and for many years the picture was hung in the library adjacent to the scene itself!

The new version was started from life during February 2020 and closely based on a drawing also made from life. I guess it's reassuring how little some places change over 30 years, but at the same time, what with news of an oncoming pandemic, it felt a little like I was recording the sunset on normal life.

Presented in hand finished frame in Farrow and Ball colours with a plain slip.
